Everyone's A Little Bit Racist

It's True...

Wow. Some people just don't think before they speak, do they? Or maybe they just don't think at all. Sarah T., here at school, is one of the most loud-mouthed, obnoxious girls I know. At dinner she was saying that Hilary shouldn't be president. Why? I asked. First, Sarah said it was because "she lies!" citing Clinton's quote about her landing in Bosnia several years ago. Second, Sarah said "we can never have a woman president because she'd get PMS!"

Yeah, I see. That's why we can't have women senators and governors (etc...), either, right? Oh, wait.... Sarah said that it was okay for her to say that because she's a girl, so it's not sexist. Quoting Tina Fey's character in Mean Girls:

"You guys have got to stop calling each other sluts and whores. It just makes it okay for guys to call you sluts and whores. ... It's just bad for business."

Just the same, I explained to Sarah why what she said just makes it okay for guys to be sexist.

Not much later, Sarah began talking loudly with a guy at another table. They were talking about some Asian food thing. I was listening because, if there's going to be yummy Asian food at some venue, I'd really like to be there. Sarah was saying something about Japanese. The guy said he was Chinese. Sarah proceeded to pull her eyes slanted (the way people do when mocking Asians) and say that she couldn't tell the difference. "It all looks the same to me."

"Wow, that was totally racist," I said. She said it didn't matter because she was just joking. This is the same girl who once said "What's the difference between a black guy and a picnic table? A picnic table can support a family of five."

Did I ever tell you about when these two guys came into the sushi restaurant I worked at... Tiffany came in a bit later, we were gonna hang out when I got off. They guys at my table ended up knowing her. They said they thought that I was probably her sister but, you know, who knows? Because they have trouble telling the difference between the waitresses at Asian restaurants; "everyone looks the same at these places."

"It's okay," I said with a saccharine smile. "All white guys look the same to me." And I left the table.

Haha, you live with hillbillys! :) Seriously though, at times like these I like to refer to the introspective musings of the poet Will Smith... "Let God deal with the things they do, cause hate in your heart will consume you too" Anyways, I don't know how anyone could confuse your radiant beauty with anything else, except maybe an angel come to earth, cutie pie :)
