This is really random. I don't even like it. It just popped into my head. Damnit, things that pop are usually better!!!

Zane stopped by the door. She held her breath and hoped. He turned to face in her direction. She let out a quiet sigh.

"Maleah," he began. She went on auto-pilot as her mind melted away. To have such an obsession was heart-breaking, but now, perhaps he would want to spend time with her.

He leaned on the doorway as they chatted. She sat on one of the desks. With his Buddy Holly glasses and black hair, one might mistake him for emo. He was anything but.

Zane, a theology major, liked to have indepth conversations that often went over her head, if Maleah was ever privy to them. He was incredibly well read and an avid theatre goer. She could envision the girls he spent his time with, none like her. They were all so perky and jovial. She, quiet and thoughtful, never seemed to fit in.

Zane walked with her as far as the coffee shop. She was headed to the church for vespers, he was headed to the theatre for rehersal.

"It's been a delight, Maleah," he said with a smile. Motioning to the coffee shop, he continued, "we should get together again, over a cup of coffee."

She smiled. "I'd like that." With a little bow, she turned and walked off.

Today, we talked for a while after class, the discussion having nothing to do with class and much to do with life. How exhilarating it would be to stand closer to you; or to make our way on to some couch and sit and talk about life? Would you take my hand? Would you, could you even bear to sit by me? And as I walked away, I wondered if you watched me go.
